Pensieves and Other SuperCool Wishes

MY Today’s Quote of the Day has gotten me to thinking. I know, dangerous at best for people like me, but its true nonetheless:

Looking into the Pensieve for Lost Thoughts

Looking into the Pensieve for Lost Thoughts

I sometimes find, and I am sure you know the feeling,

that I simply have too many thoughts and memories crammed into my mind….

At these times… I use the Pensieve.Β  One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one’s mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one’s leisure.

~J.K. Rowling, “The Pensieve,” Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2000, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore

As someone who has a difficult time retaining memories for any length of time, I find the concept of a place to store my memories while still fresh for ruminating over later …well,

bloody BRILLIANT!

How many millions of pieces of memories do I have that I vaguely recall some tiny part of the whole picture and WISH that I could remember it all? I would settle for remembering where I laid things down around my house! Be that as it may, I count this blog and my many notebooks and journals as my own version of a Pensieve. When I remember to use them. πŸ˜›

But that got me to thinking about all the really cool things I’ve seen in fiction that would ROCK my world if they were somehow made real!

  • A Pensieve would top the list, yes, but what else would I like to have?
  • A Point Of View Gun (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy).
Point of View Gun to change perspective!

Point of View Gun to change perspective!

This nifty gun, when fired at somebody, allows them for a brief couple of moments to see the world from the point of view of the person firing it. Sort of like Aaron Lewis of Staind says in his song “Schizophrenic Conversations”:

“So crawl inside…my head with me….I’ll show you how…it feels to be…f***ed up like me…”

How cool would that be? I can see the world from a whole other point of veiw and maybe get a peek inside what another person is feeling or thinking. Or I can BLAST them with my own. heh. Oh! And I’d also like the doors that SIGH when opening and closing! Ahhhhhhhhhh….

  • Babel Fish (Hitchhiker’s Guide Again)
    Babel Fish for Better Understanding

    Babel Fish for Better Understanding

To be able to understand ANY language by simply dropping a fish down into my ear?? Well..not sure how I feel about the fish part, but the rest would be AWESOME! Not just languages, but animals too. It’s my wish to be Dr. Doolittle revisited!

  • Invisibility Cloak (Harry Potter again) – This would be alot of fun when needing to disappear briefly or for a while! Think about it…

“Mom?! Mom?! He’s making that noise again! Make him stop!”

“Yeah? Well I wouldn’t have to if she weren’t being such a pain! Make her stay out of my room!”

Mom?! MOM?! Where are you?”

(Note: I am on the back porch under my Invisibility Cloak, eating a previously stashed chocolate bar and ignoring all sounds coming from the house) πŸ˜‰

  • A Gold Watch that stops time (The Girl, the Gold Watch, and Everything) Honestly? The uses for this particular watch are so numerous, there isn’t enough room for it here! Hereos has a character that can do it without the watch and pretty much does it all and Adam Sandler in Click has the same ability! I saw the movie mentioned first when I was 12 and I loved using the watch in all my imagined adventures when daydreaming! πŸ™‚

I’m sure everybody has some “super” power or really cool ability/gadget that they’ve thought,

“Dude! That would be so sweet!”

Do you guys have any that jump to mind?

Peace,

~me
