Thoreau’s Dawn

I am awake and there is a dawn in me...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Our] capacities have never been measured,”
Thoreau writes in Walden,
“nor are we to judge of what [one] can do by any precedents, so little has been tried . . .
It matters not what the clocks say
or the attitudes and labors of men.
Morning is when I am awake and there is a dawn in me.”
