A Meme?

One of my daily reads, 1 Door Away From Heaven part II posted a
Meme (meme: (pron. ‘meem’) A contagious idea that replicates like a virus, passed on from mind to mind. Memes function the same way genes and viruses do, propagating through communication networks and face-to-face contact between people. The root of the word “memetics,” a field of study which postulates that the meme is the basic unit of cultural evolution. Examples of memes include melodies, icons, fashion statements and phrases.)
at the end of which she said:

suzanne – du musst es aber sicher pro e-mail schicken….
Sooo…having never done a meme, I am going to assume I’m supposed to answer the same questions she posted. Or at least try!
What I Was Doing 10 Years Ago?
The year of 1998 I was mind-bogglingly busy at home. My oldest was the age my youngest is now-back then the 6th grade was in middle school, so all the FUN of having a preteen girl in middle school was my joy. It really was fun, all things considered, just alot of running her around! My middlest was in his 2nd year of ABA home therapy for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), so I was coordinating the comings and goings of approximately 4-7 therapists who worked with him out of our home, 35 hours a week, every week. AND coordinating their training with the consultant we had to fly in to train them and develop his program material. Ha ZAH! My littlest was a very precocious 2 year old at the time, living her life to the absolute fullest, in whatever capacity that might be in. Usually very interesting. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And my husband, while trying to keep the funding for this program as fluid as possible (completely out of pocket-around $30K per year)by traveling TDY often, IN ADDITION to being the sole income for a family of 5, was experiencing mysterious symptoms that would reveal themselves to be Hepatitis C by January of ’99. “Running on empty” and doing what was LITERALLY right in front of me was my mantra at that time. Phew. I get tired THINKING about that period of time!! When a doctor asked me “what do you do for fun”, my response was “what do you mean?”. I was serious.

Lessee…2003? I was working for my next door neighbor’s Allstate Agency. The eldest was a junior in high school, my middlest was a 3rd grader in elementary school (regular classes – the therapy DID work), and the littlest was in 1st grade. Hep C had been beaten through a hellish year of chemo and interferon, and I was still a little shellshocked from the rapid changes that had come at all of us in the preceding years….

I was coming out of a long, dark night and finding humor once again … music, photography, writing, new friends … and my back was giving me a bit of trouble..hmm…I finally agreed to go see a doctor about my back when denial quit working; little did I know…

Oh YES! Spent the day being the PROUD parent of a FIRST PLACE WINNER…heh…AND sucked wind when I got home, lying on a heating pad and trying “mind over matter” on pain …
